Friday Round-Up: Older workers, Remote jobs and Burger King Coffee

Almost half the US population is in the workforce, so it seems appropriate to do a work-themed round-up this week!

Although Millennial are the large generation in the labor force, the aging Boomer population still represent 29% of workers and 66% of them plan to work past age 65. In light of these facts, this Money Crashers post outlines ways older employees can protect themselves against layoffs and forced retirement and Money Talks News has an article on employers and resources older workers can pursue.

Remote job opportunities are increasing and, although championed by millennials seeking work-life balance, older workers (age 65+) are 1.7 times more likely to telecommute.  According to this post from the Motley Fool, it pays to let employees work remotely in increased productivity and decreased facilities costs.

Of course working from home is not without its challenges as well as benefits, but Money Talks News offers tips on how to overcome those obstacles.

Finally, for many coffee increases work productivity but a java habit can hit the wallet pretty hard. For all you caffeine addicts, this news that Burger King is launching a $5 per month coffee subscription just might “perk” you up.

Check out this post if you’re looking for your own side hustles.

Happy weekend!
