Friday Round-Up: COVID-19 Summertime Edition

Summer is usually a time of swimming pools, vacations, backyard barbecues–but with the COVID-19 pandemic still an issue, this year looks quite different from year’s past.

The New York Times has an article about vacation in the Summer of COVID-19 where four of their writers shared their experiences.

And while those New York Times writers had tips regarding researching and planning, over at USA Today, Christopher Elliott makes the case for canceling your vacation:

COVID-19 cases are off the charts. Europe is off-limits to Americans. States are closing off access to attractions, beaches and parks. And experts say you’d be crazy to travel on during the pandemic.

For those who thought COVID-19 would dissipate in the warmer weather, this Rolling Stone article explores why that hasn’t happened and, in fact, how Texas, Arizona and Florida are seeing huge rises in cases despite their record temperatures.

On a lighter note, there are still some things we can enjoy this summer–like ice cream! Check out the compilation of the most searched flavors in each state per Huffington Post.

And finally, Panera Bread is giving out unlimited free coffee all summer.

Stay cool, my friends!
