Tuesday Tips: How Do I Make Sure I Earn Points for Coupon Redemptions?

We’ve DOUBLED the amount of Points members can earn from redeeming coupons, so here are some tips to ensure you get rewarded for saving money on your grocery bill:

  1. Make sure you are print verified for your MyPoints account: Coupons.com requires authentication to validate your device. A one-time six-digit code will be sent to your mobile device which, when entered, will allow you to print coupons. If you’ve previously installed Coupons.com printer software, uninstall it before attempting the verification process. If you previously validated your device directly with Coupons.com or another program, clear your browser cache and cookies and verify your device via MyPoints in order to earn Points for coupon prints and redemptions. For more information regarding print verification, check out the Print Verification topic in Coupons.com’s Help Section.
  2. To print coupons, a computer, internet connection and good quality printer with ink and paper are required.
  3. Some coupons have limitations on the number of times they can be printed per person as well as overall inventory limits. Manufacturers set how many times you can print a coupon.
  4. Make sure your printer isn’t running low on ink: Your coupons need to print out cleanly and clearly in order to be usable.
  5. Make sure your printer settings are optimized: Some people choose to print at lower resolutions to conserve printer ink. While it’s not necessary to print coupons in color (although it may help convey authenticity to cashiers wary of fake coupons), the barcode on the coupon is embedded with a lot of important information so it must print clearly in order to be scan-able.
  6. If the cashier cannot scan your coupons, you will not be credited for the redemption: If your coupons can’t be scanned at checkout, your redemption will not be track-able and you will not earn the Points.
  7. Keep in mind that it can take 90 days or more for redemptions to be reported to MyPoints: Once your coupons is tendered to the participating retailer and scanned, it is collected with all other redeemed coupons and sent to either the retailer’s headquarters or a coupon clearinghouse for processing, usually once a week. At the clearinghouse, coupons are sorted and those originating from Coupons.com are sent to them for further processing.
