This week’s Rewarding Moment comes from member since (almost!) the beginning, David Bennett who joined MyPoints in November 1998!
Here is his story:
“I volunteer for The Society to Preserve the Millvale Murals of Maxo Vanka. We not only raise money to restore these precious church murals, but we lead regular Saturday tours.”
One fascinating thing about the Murals is that one of the Angel’s painted on the church ceiling is playing a traditional Croatian musical instrument, called a Gusle. When I saw there was an antique Gusle available on Amazon, I quickly cashed in my MyPoints for an Amazon gift certificate. A week later, my beautiful Gusle arrived.
Now when I give tours, I play a little on the Gusle, and it helps people connect with traditional Croatian culture and and to understand more about Maxo Vanka’s special meaning in painting a Gusle.”
