This week’s Rewarding Moment comes from Wendy Wendel of Reading, PA who has been a MyPoints member since 2003. Here is her story:
“My husband, my two kids and myself have been going to Disney World in Florida since my youngest was born in 2003. In the beginning we were able to use the dining plan they offered at a very low cost (I believe adults were about $35 and kids were $11) to take care of our meals. After our first trip which we took the grandparents along we found out how really expensive it was to pay for an onsite resort. So we caved after we saw how much the kids liked it and invested in a Disney timeshare.
For the first five years or so we made out really well with having the timeshare and the dining plan. But alas, good things do not last. The dining plan sky rocketed to the point it was ridiculous so we had to figure out a different way to pay for meals. Hence, MyPoints came to the rescue. We would collect MyPoints VISA prepaid cards all year long to pay for the meals. Knowing where the best deals for food is in the parks we were really able to stretch our MyPoints cards.
The most rewarding moment courtesy of MyPoints was when my two sons wanted to go two summers ago with their friends. Their friends provided the transportation by train, I provided the timeshare for them to stay in and my younger son had an annual pass from a school trip. We had saved up so much money in MyPoints cards for the kids to use for food. They had enough in cards that they ate really well for the nine days they were there.
The best part is the cards are very safe for them to use and I do not have to worry about them using debit or credit cards and the MyPoints cards are accepted everywhere in Disney. The only thing we had to pay for was an admission ticket for our older son. That was a Disney vacation for nine days that was practically free thanks to MyPoints. Thank you, MyPoints.
