Tuesday Tips: Why were my Points reversed?

When you make a purchase via our website, BonusMail offer or Score!, the merchant pays MyPoints a commission which we split with you in the form of Points. The merchant sends reporting to MyPoints regarding your purchase which triggers Points to be awarded.

Likewise, when you cancel or return a purchase to the merchant, they reverse the commission paid to MyPoints and send reporting which triggers the Point reversal.

The merchant may also choose to reverse credit for the purchase if a non-MyPoints coupon was applied or the order otherwise was deemed ineligible. Purchases may also be reversed if changes are made via the merchant’s customer service team.

If you return a purchase to the merchant to be exchanged, please note that the Points for the original purchase will be reversed. To retain credit for the purchase, the exchange must occur as a new, separate order placed via MyPoints.

In some cases, Point reversals may be caused by a processing error which causes awards to be mistakenly posted twice. In this case, the reversal is made to cancel out the erroneous duplicate award.

If your transaction was reversed and the reversal was not associated with a return or exchange or duplicate award, please contact our Member Services team.
