Tuesday Tips: How Do I Earn Points for BonusMail?

MyPoints sends BonusMail offers to members to alert them to our current Shop and Deals Point-earning opportunities. Here are some FAQs to keep in mind regarding BonusMail:

  • Not all BonusMails offer Points for clicking – Clicking on BonusMails can be an easy way to rack up Points, but while all BonusMails have Point-earning offers, not all BonusMails offer Points for clicking through to visit the merchant or offer. In the “Get Your Points!” section of the email, you can see what the offer is and if you’ll receive Points for visiting the merchant or offer. For example:

The offer above states there is 5 Points for visiting the merchant and that you can earn 7 Points per dollar for a purchase.

On the other hand, this offer states only that the user will receive 8 Points per dollar for making a purchase.

  • BonusMails expire – Under the Get Points button, there is an expiration date. Most BonusMails expire within 7 days of being sent. Some may have a longer expiration date and some may expire more quickly. Please note the expiration date because if there are Points offered for clicking, they will not be awarded if the BonusMail has expired.
  • BonsMails are no longer part of the Daily 5 – Due to fluctuations in BonusMails offering Points for clicking, this activity was removed from the Daily 5 at the end of August 2019 and replaced with Attempt a Survey which means you will not see another check on your Daily 5 after clicking through a BonusMail.
  • BonusMails may be targeted – Not all members receive the same offers as some offers may be targeted to specific demographics.
  • BonusMails Points for clicking may vary – If Points are offered for clicking through BonusMails, that award may vary from offer to offer and from member to member.
  • BonusMail Points are aggregated – If you are checking your account statement to make sure you got credited for BonusMails where Points for clicking were awarded, keep in mind that they are grouped together at the date you first clicked on a BonusMail for the month.

If you verify that a BonusMail offer includes Points for clicking through to visit the merchant/offer and those Points do not appear in your aggregated Account Statement, please alert us ASAP. In most cases we can fix the glitch immediately, allowing members to re-click the BonusMail to get their Points. In other cases, we can identify members who’ve clicked but not been awarded and adjust their accounts en masse.
