Rewarding Moments: August 13, 2020

This week’s Rewarding Moment comes from Christie Albertin, who has been a member since the beginning!

Here is her story:

“I was first introduced to MyPoints when it was brand new.  I checked in every few days to find ways I could save.

Back then my three children were at home, and my husband, Jim, was still alive.  It was a bustling household residing on a family farm, and we needed every penny we could save.  MyPoints helped me out many times.  Early on, there were no surveys, etc., only the promise, and I was eager to watch MyPoints grow.

As things happen, I had to get a job away from the farm, and my shopping aides, like MyPoints, got lost in my busy days of juggling the family, farm and new job which took 50-60 hours of my time each week.

In 2004, I wanted to re-establish my Internet shopping, could not find the MyPoints log-in, so had to sign up again.  My new membership started 12 November 2004.  I was very pleased to see all of the additions that had come to My Points.

You are asking for my most rewarding moment courtesy of MyPoints.  Now that I am alone, here on the farm, it is a full-time occupation to keep me busy and the farm working.  MyPoints provides a daily check-in that has become a source of pleasure for me.

Though I do very little shopping these days, the surveys help me pass the time when I cannot be outside, or I awaken in the dark hours of night.  It has also given me items to investigate and a search engine.  On top of all of that, as I earn Points, they contribute to the Christmas and birthday presents of children and grandchildren now living so very far away.

I eagerly look at the Points accumulate as they get closer to paying for a particular gift for one of the children.  Even though I am not there to play with the children, and they are not  here to learn about the farm and nature, I can, even though the money is tight, get them little gifts through the year thanks to my participation on the MyPoints website.

This spring, participation helped me afford a trip to the beach with my son’s family, and we were able to introduce his girls to my mom. She is 87 years old.

So as you can see, it is not just one thing that is my most rewarding moment through MyPoints.  It is the everyday check-in and aides that I find using the website, and the “reward” of buying gifts, through accumulated points, that can be delivered in far-flung locales.  I do, most sincerely, thank MyPoints for that.”

Thanks for you story, Christie, and for sticking with MyPoints for so many years! In appreciation, we’ve added 1,500 to your account towards your birthday/Christmas presents fund.
